Health Data Privacy Policy

What this means for you

All health data processed by Thalen stays on your device. We have no servers, no cloud storage, and no ability to access your data. Nothing you record in Thalen is transmitted, sold, or shared with anyone — including us.

Categories of Health Data Collected

Thalen processes the following categories of health data, all stored locally on your device:

Mental health status

Cognitive test scores including reaction times, accuracy rates, and computed performance metrics (CNS Readiness, Cognitive Performance index) from each testing session.

Health-related behavior

Supplement logs including compounds taken, doses, and timing relative to testing sessions.

HealthKit data (read-only, with permission)

Read from Apple Health solely to provide context for your cognitive scores:

  • Sleep duration (last 24 hours)
  • Resting heart rate (last 24 hours)
  • Heart rate variability / HRV (last 24 hours)
  • Recent workouts (last 2 hours)

Derived composites

On-device computed data including personal baselines, performance trends, circadian timing models, and coaching insights generated from the above data.

Purposes of Collection

Health data is collected and processed solely to provide you with cognitive performance tracking and personalized coaching insights within the Thalen app. There are no secondary purposes. Your data is not used for research, advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than delivering the service directly to you.

Sharing and Selling of Health Data

We do not sell or share your health data.

No health data leaves your device. Thalen has no servers to send data to, and no third-party integrations that receive data. Specifically: no data is shared for advertising, no data is shared for research, no data is shared with data brokers, and no data is sold in any form.

Data Retention

Your data is stored on-device indefinitely until you choose to delete it. Thalen has no server-side retention — we hold no copies of your data. When you delete data through the app or uninstall Thalen, it is gone.

Your Deletion Rights

You have the right to delete all of your health data at any time:

  • In-app deletion: Settings > Delete All Data — clears all session records, supplement logs, baselines, and coaching insights, and resets all preferences
  • Uninstalling the app removes all data stored by Thalen on your device

There is no server-side data to request deletion of. We have no copies of your data and no ability to respond to deletion requests for data we do not hold.

Consent and Withdrawal

Thalen collects your explicit consent before processing any health data:

  • In-app consent is collected at first launch before any data is recorded
  • HealthKit permission is requested separately through the iOS system prompt and can be managed at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Thalen

To withdraw consent, use Settings > Delete All Data in the app. This deletes all health data associated with your use of Thalen. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
